SUMMARY:Webinar: How can standards support the future European wind energy sector?
DESCRIPTION:Wind power is one of the most cost-effective renewable energy sources. Historically\, the European wind sector has been an innovative leader thanks to the knowledge and resources put aside for development of technology and standards. \nIn order to realise the green transition and the ambitious goals set out in the European Green Deal and the RepowerEU communication\, cooperation across the energy sector is needed. Unleashing the potential of wind power will be a key step in limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. \nThe revision of the Renewable Energy Directive sets a 2030 target of 42\,5% of renewable energy in the EU’s gross final energy consumption\, with the aspiration to reach 45%. Furthermore\, modelling accompanying the REpowerEU Plan shows that reaching 45% would translate into an increase in installed wind capacity to 510 GW by 2030 (from 205 GW in 2022). With the permit granting processes to be accelerated under the REPowerEU plan and the announced Wind Power Package\, large scale deployment of wind systems will contribute to securing supply of renewable energy across Europe. \nFrom this\, the European market for wind is expected to grow significantly in the coming years\, but accessing the market for developers and manufacturers is challenged by deviating local rules and regulations. In this webinar we will discuss how standards can contribute to a more united internal market. \nThe global wind market is highly competitive and characterised by rapid development within sustainability\, offshore and onshore systems. As systems shift\, standards will have to be developed to support them. \nThe wind working stream under the remits of the High Level Forum on European Standardisation (HLF) has outlined some of the key challenges for the sector that will be discussed. \nIn close collaboration with European stakeholders within wind power and standardisation Danish Standards is hosting a webinar with two panel discussions. The results of the discussion will serve as input for the Commission’s written report for the High-Level Forum on European Standardisation \nYou will also be able to join the discussion via the chat function. \nYou will gain\n\nBetter understanding of the role of standardisation within the wind power sector.\nInsights of the main challenges and opportunities for the European Wind power sector\nKnowledge of recent developments with regards to sustainability as well as upcoming EU policy\nPossibility to engage with policy makers\, professionals and standardisation experts.\n\nTaget Group\nProfessionals in the wind power sector (onshore as well as offshore)\, professionals within standardisation and local authorities and public sector officials. \n \n
