The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (CPTRA) announces that the winner of the auction for Saare 2.2 sea area has been revealed. The only bid was submitted by Deep Wind Offshore AS (Norwegian company) in the amount of 1,327,500 euros, which was also the starting price of the auction.

The winner of the auction can commence with the development of an offshore wind farm in the Saare 2.2 sea area, with an area of 88,5 km². With the previous win of the auction, the company has the right to start developing the offshore wind farm in an area of ​​163.8 km², the total size of the two sea areas is 252.3 km².

The auction started on 26 June 2024 at 12 p.m., Estonian time, and ended on 28 June 2024 at 12 p.m.

According to the application for superficies licence submitted by Deep Wind Offshore AS on 28 March 2024, up to 56 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 840 MW are planned to be erected in the Saare 2.2 sea area. Superficies licence proceedings together with an environmental impact assessment will commence in relation to the winner of the auction within 90 days from the confirmation of the winner. The CPTRA will issue a decision to refuse to initiate superficies licence proceedings in respect of other competing applications. Deep Wind Offshore AS plans to build up to 154 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 2400 MW on two sea areas.

Auction for Saare 3 will take place from 7 July 2024 at 12 p.m. to 4 July 2024 at 12 p.m.
