The University of Szczecin attentively follows the changing energy market in Poland, in particular the growing role of the RES sector, which plays a key role in the energy transition. Prof. Dr. Waldemar Tarczynski, Rector of the University of Szczecin, answers questions from BalticWind.EU about the university’s plans regarding its educational path. Prof. Waldemar Tarczynski informs that the University of Szczecin within the faculties conducted at the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Management currently runs a major in engineering logistics. The specializations offered within this faculty include energy systems engineering (first degree) and energy distribution systems (second degree). Logistics is one of the key areas for successful implementation of RES projects, especially in terms of scheduling.

Energy Systems Engineering graduates will gain competences in implementation, management and improvement of energy systems, as well as in design and operation of energy sector infrastructure. In addition, they will gain knowledge of renewable energy sources and their impact on the environment. First-degree studies last 3.5 years (7 semesters). Currently there are about a dozen students studying there. Graduates of this specialisation receive the professional title of Engineer – informs the representative of the university.

In turn, the specialisation of Energy Distribution Systems is aimed at educating professionals with competences in implementation, management, and improvement of energy systems. Graduates of the specialisation have technical knowledge of the operation of electrical power equipment and methods of obtaining and distributing renewable energy, as well as non-technical skills in the management of energy companies and improvement of energy conversion and distribution processes.
