Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has been awarded a WTG installation contract with Ørsted and PGE for the installation of wind turbines at the Baltica 2, lot 3 offshore wind farm in Poland.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will mobilise one of its special purpose-built jack-up installation vessels to the designated loadout quay and subsequently to the Baltica 2 offshore wind site during spring 2027.

The Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm is one of the largest offshore wind projects in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. Baltica 2 was selected for the first phase of Poland’s ambitious offshore wind buildout program by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) in 2021 when the project secured the CFD.

With a capacity of 1.5 GW, the wind farm will supply renewable energy to 2.4 million households in Poland. The wind farm will be constructed in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.

“The Polish wind energy market is a highly prioritized market for us, and we are extremely proud to be chosen by Ørsted and PGE as a reliable partner for this Polish project. This contract will continue to strengthen our relationship, and we look forward to supporting Ørsted and PGE in the Baltica 2 project in Poland in 2027.” says CEO Alexandra Koefoed, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.

“It is already the second contract for installation vessels for the Baltica 2 project. Last year we signed agreement for services necessary for installation and connection of inter-array and export cables. Work towards starting the construction of the largest renewable energy project in Poland is progressing according to schedule. In just three years, energy from the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm will reach Polish homes,” commented Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

“We open the new year with an important contract for the installation of wind turbines. Considering the challenges facing the offshore wind industry globally, we are particularly proud that we are consistently and according to plan signing further agreements with experienced market players, which bring us closer to the implementation of Baltica 2 – a pioneering project in terms of scale of the offshore wind energy market in Poland,” said Agata Staniewska-Bolesta, Managing Director of Ørsted Offshore Poland.

Baltica 2 is one of two stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm – next to Baltica 3. Ørsted and PGE plan to deliver Baltica 2 of 1.5 GW capacity by the end of 2027 and Baltica 3 of 1 GW capacity by 2030. The project is subject to final investment decision. Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 will create the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm of 2,5 GW total capacity. It will contribute significantly to Poland’s green energy transition, delivering clean energy for nearly four million households in Poland.
