The Land and Environmental Court in Östersund has informed on the 5th of October that it has rejected Utposten 2’s application for a permit for offshore wind power within Gävle municipality. We have reported on the Utposten 2 project here.

This is because the applicant did not meet the requirements of the Environmental Code for consultation with individuals who may be particularly affected by the operation. As it was judged this deficiency could not be cured during the court review.

The proceedings in the case have been very extensive. As there are shortcomings in the consultation, the environmental impact statement has not been approved and the application has been rejected. The court has therefore not taken a position on the content of the application as far as the number of wind turbines, height of the wind turbines, conditions for permits etc. are concerned.
