In this event we explore the water, energy nexus that exists in the regional energy mix experience in Latin America, Africa and South East Asia. In this session we will discuss how drought has impacted hydropower generation in the region, and catalysed the shift to renewable energies . Then we can look at how to secure the region’s RE supply by investments in new technology that can be used including long duration energy storage to provide flexibility to the grid system. The issues of variability, grid flexibility and stability will all be discussed as we look forward to how this region is going to drive its energy transition using renewable energy technologies such as wind, solar and storage.
