During the international World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE), which is taking place on 4–6 November 2025 in Paris, Baltic Industrial Group (GPB) and a company from the Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia (EPG) Group signed a memorandum of cooperation with the French company EDF, one of the largest nuclear energy operators in the world.
The signing of the document is an important step in the development of Poland’s industrial potential in the nuclear energy sector and a direct contribution by GPB and EPG to the implementation of the Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ), which envisages the construction of two nuclear power plants with a total installed capacity of 6 to 9 GWe. EDF, as a global leader in the design, construction and operation of pressurised water reactors (EPR), has been invited to participate in a competitive dialogue concerning the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Poland.
The Baltic Industrial Group is consistently building its position as a partner for global energy companies, both in the offshore sector and now in the field of nuclear energy. Our experience in the implementation of large steel, assembly and engineering projects provides a solid basis for cooperation with EDF. This is a step towards the inclusion of Polish companies in the supply chain of strategic low-carbon energy technology and the next stage in the development of the domestic heavy industry. – emphasises Remigiusz Paszkiewicz, President of the Management Board of the Baltic Industrial Group.
The signing of the memorandum confirms that the competences of Polish industry are increasingly recognised in projects of the highest technological advancement.
The new document signed between EDF, the Baltic Industrial Group and Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia is a continuation of the earlier cooperation agreement, which was the foundation for building relations between GPB, EPG and EDF. The parties have decided to resume cooperation, focusing on deepening the exchange of technical experience, developing production potential and adapting quality processes to the requirements of the nuclear sector.
The agreement includes, among other things, joint activities to increase the participation of Polish industry in EPR projects, analysis of the potential of GPB and EPG companies in terms of future orders, and cooperation in the acquisition of regional suppliers and industrial partners for EDF projects in Poland and abroad.
“For us, cooperation with EDF is proof that Polish companies are ready to participate in projects of global scale and strategic importance. Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia has many years of experience in the prefabrication and assembly of steel structures and equipment for the energy sector. Today, these competencies can be used in one of the most important infrastructure projects of the coming decade. It is also proof that the industry in Gdynia and Gdańsk has the potential to operate at the highest global level, notes Artur Sobolewski, President of the Management Board of Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia. For Polish industry, this is not only a prospect of new contracts, but also an opportunity for further development of technical and organisational competences.
– It is a great event for Pomerania that a Polish company from the Baltic Industrial Group has signed a cooperation agreement with a global leader in the nuclear sector – adds Leszek Bonna, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Province.
Together with nearly 50 Polish companies, universities and research centres, the Baltic Industrial Group is part of the Polish delegation organised by the Ministry of Energy.
The Polish pavilion at WNE presents the potential of domestic companies involved in the development of the nuclear programme in Poland and in projects implemented on international markets.
The vast majority of companies present at WNE 2025 already have very good references in the nuclear energy sector, gained through cooperation with partners from around the world.
