Construction has begun on the 400 kV Choczewo – Gdańsk Przyjaźń line, which will be used, among other things, to transmit power from offshore wind farms. The first foundations for the pylons are already being laid. Power from the Choczewo station will be transmitted inland via four extra-high voltage lines.
The 400 kV Choczewo-Gdańsk Przyjaźń line, nearly 90 km long, will run from the Choczewo station in Osieki Lęborskie in the Choczewo commune to the Gdańsk Przyjaźń station in the Żukowo commune. Its route will cover 10 communes: Choczewo, Gniewino, Kartuzy, Linia, Luzino, Łęczyce, Przodkowo, Somonino, Szemud, Żukowo.
The line will be built in two stages. The consortium of SPIE Energy Poland – Elfeko, selected earlier through a tender procedure, is responsible for the construction of the first section of the line (up to pylon no. 64). The selection of the contractor for the second section of the line is planned for Q3 2025. Completion of works is scheduled for 2027.
Thanks to the construction of the 400 kV Choczewo-Gdańsk Przyjaźń line, PSE will ensure the connection of offshore wind farms to the National Power System (KSE) – enabling the delivery of wind energy to consumers throughout the country. Investors planning to build offshore wind farms (MFW) in the Polish zone of the Baltic Sea are responsible for their construction. However, for clean electricity from offshore wind to flow to consumers, infrastructure created by us is necessary. The energy will be introduced into new power stations, from which it will then flow inland via extra-high voltage lines, including the 400 kV Choczewo-Gdańsk Przyjaźń line. The construction of offshore wind farms is one of the most important elements of Poland’s energy transformation.
