German independent energy supplier e.optimum has signed a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with GETEC ENERGIE GmbH, reinforcing their joint commitment to advancing Germany’s renewable energy transition. The deal marks the second PPA between the two companies.

Key details of the new PPA

  • Start date: January 1, 2026
  • Duration: Until December 31, 2026
  • Volume: Approx. 50 GWh of electricity
  • Source: German onshore wind farms (30 MW installed capacity)

The names of the wind projects supplying the contracted volumes have not been disclosed.

Scaling up renewable procurement

With this latest agreement, e.optimum is set to procure a total of around 140,000 MWh of onshore wind power from GETEC ENERGIE between mid-2025 and the end of 2026. This strengthens the company’s position as one of the largest independent energy suppliers in Germany focused on long-term renewable energy sourcing.
Boris Käser, CEO of e.optimum, emphasized:

“Our intensified partnership with GETEC is a clear commitment to a sustainable future.”

A growing portfolio of PPAs

The announcement comes shortly after e.optimum struck another major deal earlier in August – a 100 GWh PPA with Engie Deutschland. That agreement will see the company procure electricity from German wind turbines that are no longer supported under the EEG feed-in tariff regime, helping extend the economic lifetime of older renewable assets.
This combination of PPAs shows e.optimum’s strategy of diversifying its renewable energy supply – securing volumes from both new and post-subsidy wind farms.

PPAs driving the energy transition

Power Purchase Agreements are becoming a cornerstone of Europe’s energy transition, providing price stability for buyers while ensuring predictable revenues for renewable energy operators. For independent suppliers like e.optimum, these contracts not only lock in green energy volumes for customers but also send a signal of confidence in Germany’s evolving PPA market.
