On the initiative of Piotr Müller, Member of the European Parliament, the European Youth Council of Pomerania was established. The new body consists of ambitious young people from across the province, aged between 18 and 26, who were selected through a recruitment process that attracted a great deal of interest. During the conference “The Voice of Young People in the European Union” organized by the European Conservatives and Reformists, the members of the Council identified key thematic areas that they will address during this term.
Three pillars: opinions, action, development
The Council was designed not only as an advisory body, but as an organization based on three equal pillars: opinion and advice, real action, and competence development. It is a place for people who want to highlight important issues from their perspective and have an impact on reality. Piotr Müller, presenting the letters of appointment, emphasized the partnership nature of the cooperation.
“I appointed this Council because I need your fresh perspective on what is happening in Pomerania and Europe. I want you to speak directly about what is crucial for your generation,” said Piotr Müller. “Your perspective will be an important guide for me in my daily work.”
Workshop “Priority Tournament”
The meeting was of a working nature. Instead of standard lectures, the young councilors took part in a strategic “priority tournament.” Working in task groups and using thematic flashcards, the participants analyzed the most important challenges facing Pomerania and Europe. Then, through negotiation and voting, they jointly identified the issues that require the attention of the European Youth Council of Pomerania.
Discussions covered a wide range of topics: from energy security and the construction of a nuclear power plant, through freedom of speech on the internet and artificial intelligence, to agriculture and housing problems faced by young people. The result of the workshop is a list of priorities on which the Council will focus its further activities.
It will be a good year
The inauguration showed the great potential of the new Council. The team is made up of people with different interests who are united by their desire to work for Pomerania.
“I am very impressed with the level of today’s discussion. Looking at the energy and professionalism of this group, I am sure that this will be a very good year,” summarized Piotr Müller. “I am glad to have such a strong team on board. Let’s get to work!”
