On the second day of the Polish Wind Energy Association (PSEW2025) Conference, which focused on the future of wind energy in Poland, a significant event took place. PGE Baltica, in cooperation with its partner Ørsted, symbolically signed an agreement with Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic for the production and delivery of additional steel structures for foundations (so-called secondary steel) for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. This is a concrete example of that Polish companies are ready to participate in the supply chain for the first phase of offshore wind farm projects. The production of these key components will take place in Pomerania, which is an important step in the development of local industry.
The main topic of one of the debates on the second day of the PSEW2025 Conference was European industrial policy and its impact on the Polish #offshorewind market. Alicja Wąsowicz, Director of the Purchasing and Administration Department at PGE Baltica, took part in the panel discussion.
In her speech, Alicja Wąsowicz emphasized that building a Polish supply chain is a long-term process that requires patience and cooperation from all interested parties. She noted that PGE Baltica is actively stimulating the development of this chain by learning about the capabilities and expectations of Polish companies, as well as clearly presenting its purchasing needs and formal requirements. She pointed out that the company has already held over 200 individual meetings with Polish companies and conducted several purchasing workshops.
Wąsowicz drew attention to the challenges faced by Polish companies starting to supply the offshore industry, such as the need to incur expenditure and costs related to changing technology or obtaining appropriate certification. In this context, she emphasized the need to ensure investment stability for Polish companies so that they can successfully participate in offshore wind farm projects.
