Nordic company Cloudberry is planning to strengthen its business portfolio in the area of offshore wind energy. The target of the independent developer is the Baltic Sea. The Nordic renewable energy producer has hired Charlotte Bergqvist, who will assist Cloudberry in exploring investment opportunities.
Cloudberry is an Oslo-based company active in the renewable energy market in the Nordic countries. It owns, develops and operates hydropower plants and wind farms in Norway and Sweden. Cloudberry also has an office in Karlstad, Sweden, which is located by the country’s largest lake, Lake Wener. The developer has plans to build the 100 MW Stenkalles Grund offshore farm in the waters of the lake. Construction is expected to begin in 2022. Cloudberry and Downing have already signed a share purchase agreement to build and own the wind farm. Cloudberry will own 20 percent of the project once it is commissioned. The current development plan includes 16 turbines with an estimated annual electricity production capacity of 350 GWh. The developer’s interests are primarily in shallow water wind projects in the Nordic countries.

Anders Lenborg, CEO of Cloudberry, points out that the company has an ambition to develop 2.5 GW of offshore wind power in the Baltic Sea by 2030. Staffing is currently being developed in Cloudberry’s Offshore Wind segment. The company has hired Charlotte Bergqvist as team leader in the offshore wind energy department.
We read in the announcement that Bergqvist has extensive experience in business related to the RES industry, gained among others at entities such as wpd Offshore and Svenska Kraftnät. Lenborg is confident that Charlotte’s addition to the team will accelerate the development of Stenkalles Grund and position Cloudberry as a leader in shallow-water wind energy in the Nordic countries. The expert will start work no later than by January 1, 2022.
