Poland’s Vice-Minister for Infrastructure Marek Gróbarczyk has announced that Poland is launching further concession proceedings for three new sites in Polish waters of the Baltic Sea. As a result, localization procedures are currently underway for 9 marine areas.

Vice-Minister Gróbaczyk tweeted that the ministry has “three more locations for the law on promoting electricity generation in offshore wind farms.” He added that Offshore wind energy is one of the fastest growing segments of the RES sector in Europe.

According to the infrastructure ministry’s website, the new announcements – 7/2022, 8/2022, 3/2022 – are for marine plots of 91.2 square kilometers, 125.89 square kilometers and 147.69 square kilometers, accordingly. The announcements indicate, among other things, the location for which subsequent applications may be submitted and the criteria for evaluating those applications.

On February 9, we reported that notices numbered: 4/2022/MFW, 5/2022/MI, and 6/2022/MFW are for parcels of land of approx. 77.4 km2, approx. 121.3 km 2. and approx. 82.44 km2.

The authority to issue the permit in Poland is the minister in charge of maritime economy. Applications for the location can be submitted by interested investors within 60 days from the publication of announcements in the Public Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Infrastructure. If competing applications are received, the Minister of Infrastructure will conduct a deliberative process.

Applications can also still be submitted for the previous three location permit notices for offshore wind farm projects, which were published in the Public Information Bulletin on 21 January 2022, as reported on BalticWind.EU. The announcements are available HERE.
