Finnish state-owned company Metsähallitus, which is developing the Korsnäs offshore wind farm project, is strengthening its staff. Heid Vest has joined the team as a wind project expert in the Baltic Sea. Vest took up her position on January 24 and works from offices in Vaasa and Korsnäs.
The office in Korsnäs serves as both a project presentation point and a base for those working on the wind farm project. A new expert will be available weekly at the Korsnäs office for those interested in offshore wind energy. The new office will opened in mid-February 2022.
Heidi Vest previously worked on the Veja Mate offshore wind farm project in Germany and on design assignments for truck manufacturer MAN Financial Services, also in Germany. She recently moved from Singapore to Finland.
– We welcome Heidi Vest to an important offshore wind farm project. With her background in the Vaasa economic area, experience, and bilingualism, she is perfectly placed to act as a liaison between the local community and Metsähallitus in an important offshore renewable energy project for Finland, comments Pertti Tapio, Project Manager for Offshore Wind.
Metsähallitus plans to build an offshore wind farm off the coast of Korsnäs, 15 to 30 kilometers from land. We are currently looking for a partner from domestic and foreign markets to implement the project. The nominal capacity of the wind farm will be about 1,300 MW, with an annual production of about 5,000 GWh. The wind farm would consist of about 70 to 100 turbines with a capacity of 12 to 20 megawatts. The plant will not be operational until 2028 at the earliest.
