The Port of Grenaa plans to become more involved in the development of offshore wind farms. Two new farm operation and maintenance (O&M) facilities will be built as part of the port’s infrastructure expansion. Until now, the port has had one such facility. The port’s investment plans stem from the growing role of offshore wind power in the energy policy of Denmark (near-shore projects) and Sweden.
Port Grenaa is one of Denmark’s largest ports. The port’s strategy is based on increasing its involvement in large offshore wind projects in the Kattegat Strait between Denmark and Sweden. The experience of being involved in the construction of the Anholt wind farm, between the islands of Djursland and Anholt, shows great benefits for the development of the local economy and job creation. The port’s activities are being implemented based on the 2021-2025 strategy “Port for Partnerships for a Green World” at the center of which are, among other things, wind energy and innovation.
