Belgian offshore wind energy developer Parkwind developing the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm in Germany chose 24Sea as a supplier of systems for monitoring the condition of wind turbine foundations.
The offshorewind.biz portal informed about the investor’s decision. 24Sea has over 10 years of experience in analysing the dynamics of wind structures, signal processing, system identification and structure condition monitoring using data mining techniques. The company will be responsible for the implementation of engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the structural condition monitoring system for wind turbine foundations installed within the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm in the waters of the Baltic Sea in Germany.
Monopile foundations will be installed on the site of the new farm. The equipment for their monitoring will be installed at the Steelwind production plant in Germany. Installation and commissioning will be carried out at sea. Installation works at sea are to start in 2022, and the wind farm is to be fully operational as early as 2023.
24Sea is not the only selected subcontractor. The Danish tycoon Vestas will supply 27 V174 wind turbines – 9.5 MW, Heerema will install wind turbines in accordance with a recently developed modern method, Bladt Industries will provide a maritime substation. DEME Offshore with its state-of-the-art installation vessel Orion will install XXL monopiles manufactured by Steelwind. In turn, JDR will provide the interconnection cables and Global Marine will install the cables. The wind farm will connect to the operator’s 50 Hz grid.
The wind farm will be located 19 km north-east of the island of Rügen in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Arcadis Ost 1 farm will cover an area of 29 km2, adding 257 MW to the German electricity grid.
