Nordex Group has received an order from Swedish developer OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines for the 77 MW Urleasca wind farm in south-eastern Romania. The contract also includes a 35-year premium service agreement.
In parallel, OX2 has sold the ready-to-build project to Norway’s Scatec ASA, while retaining responsibility for overseeing the entire construction phase, which is due to start in the third quarter of 2026. Commissioning is planned for the second half of 2028. The project holds a long-term contract for difference (CfD) with the Romanian state and will be built near the village of Urleasca in Brăila county, around 150 kilometres north-east of Bucharest.
“Romania continues to offer attractive opportunities for the deployment of modern wind technology,” said Slava Feklin, Nordex country manager for Romania and Ukraine. The manufacturer says it has won more than 500 MW of orders in Romania in recent months.
For Baltic readers, the deal is a familiar pattern with regional players: OX2, headquartered in Stockholm and owned by EQT, is a fixture of the Nordic-Baltic development scene, while Nordex’s German plants supply the hardware. Romania’s CfD-backed pipeline shows how south-eastern Europe is drawing the same developers and manufacturers active around the Baltic Sea.
