The Danish Port of Esbjerg is increasing its crane capacity to handle large offshore wind turbine components. They placed an order with a longtime partner Liebherr for the delivery of a second LHM 800 crane.
“Our competence lies in general cargo (breakbulk) and in having the capacity to lift tandems of more than 600 tons, which is essential not only in the onshore and offshore wind market, but also in supporting inland production”, says Dennis Jul Pedersen, CEO of the Port of Esbjerg.
In a special heavy-lift version, the LHM 800 crane is capable of lifting up to 308 tons and 616 tons in tandem mode with the Sycratronic intelligent system.
According to the Port of Esbjerg, the first LHM 800 crane was delivered to the port in 2019 and, with the addition of the second crane, it will be the first port in the western part of the world to have two LHM 800 cranes in its fleet.
