The application for planning approval for the onshore route and the substation, including the overhead line connection, was submitted to the permitting authority, the Ministry for Economics, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (WM M-V) on time on 31 March 2023.
Among other things, the documents define the exact course of the onshore route up to the new substation site between Stilow and Klein Ernsthof. WM M-V will now review the application, before the public participation process begins.
Manuel Wildmann, technical project leader for Ostwind 3 at 50Hertz: “With the timely submission of the application documents for the final section, we have taken another important step towards the approval of the entire Ostwind 3 project.”
Last year, the application documents for the planning approval procedure for the offshore route sections in the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the coastal waters were already submitted to the respective competent permitting authorities. The application documents contain many expert opinions, studies as well as detailed explanations as to why the course of the route proposed by 50Hertz and the new substation to be built are the most harmless options for man and nature. Furthermore, the implemented measures for early public participation are explained, such as the information fairs that were organised.
Ostwind 3 is the grid connection project for the Windanker wind farm. A capacity of 300 MW will be transported from this wind farm. For the first time, the entire offshore substation (OSS) will be planned, constructed and operated by 50Hertz in addition to the cable systems that will connect the wind farm to the transmission grid.
