The German renewables developer UKA Group has appointed Daniele Ascioti to run its Italian project companies. From 11 June 2026 he becomes managing director of UKA Solar Latiano S.r.l. and UKA Solar Ramacca S.r.l. and head of photovoltaic and storage project development at UKA Italia S.r.l.
Ascioti, an electrical engineer with around 17 years in Italian energy project development, joins from Vestas in Rome, where he served as director of project development. He takes over from Álvaro Sierra Torrón, who built up UKA Italia and now focuses on his role as managing director of UKA Iberia.
UKA frames the move as part of a wider push into the Italian market, which it describes as one of Europe’s more attractive for renewables given its expansion targets and regulatory framework. The group, founded in 1999 and based in Meissen, has 1.6 GW of onshore wind under construction in Germany and a roughly 7 GW international pipeline.
For the Baltic region, the appointment is a reminder that established onshore wind developers are increasingly building combined wind, solar and battery portfolios across multiple European markets rather than treating the technologies in isolation.
