The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE, Poland) has granted the first promise of a concession for the offshore wind farm Baltic Power being developed by Orlen and Northland Power – as announced by URE on 4 April.
“The country’s first promise of a concession for a company generating energy from offshore wind opens a new chapter in the history of the Polish energy sector. It is a milestone in the energy transformation process” – Renata Mroczek, Vice-President of the URE, said.
The offshore wind farm, with a planned total installed electrical capacity of 1140 MW, belongs to BalticPower, and will be located approximately 22.5 km from the Polish coast, at Choczew and Leba, within the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea.
