Renewable energy company Green Genius has completed the placement of a EUR 65 million green bond issue in the Nordic market. The bonds are expected to be admitted to trading on the Sustainable Bond List of Nasdaq Stockholm. The company will use the proceeds to refinance existing subordinated construction loans.

The bonds have a four-year maturity and carry a floating-rate coupon of three-month EURIBOR plus 8% a year. Green Genius said the issue drew demand from international institutional investors, with allocations spread across the Nordic and Baltic regions, the United Kingdom, the United States and other markets. DNB Carnegie acted as sole bookrunner and Mannheimer Swartling as legal counsel.

The bonds were issued under the company’s 2026 Green Financing Framework, which follows the International Capital Market Association’s Green Bond Principles. Moody’s Ratings provided a second-party opinion on the framework and assigned it a sustainability quality score of SQS2, which it rates as “very good”.

Green Genius currently operates 595 MW of solar, wind and battery storage assets and produces 108 GWh of biomethane a year. A further 224 MW of solar and battery projects are in the final stages of construction and are scheduled for grid connection in the coming months. The company puts its total development pipeline across all markets at 3.1 GW. It is partly owned by the EBRD and operates in five European markets.

“We are consistently executing our strategic goal of building an operational portfolio of more than 1 GW by 2030,” said CEO Ruslan Sklepovič, adding that the issue simplifies the group’s capital structure and improves its financial flexibility. Tadas Balsys, head of project finance and investments, said raising capital in the Nordic market currently requires a robust business model and a clear financial strategy.
