WindEurope has officially launched the Call for University Proposals for its 2026 Annual Event, taking place on 21–23 April 2026 in Madrid. The organisation invites universities across the EEA, Switzerland and the UK to submit applications for student participation in one of Europe’s most important wind energy gatherings.
The 2026 edition introduces a significant thematic focus: mis- and disinformation in the energy transition. As public debate around wind energy becomes increasingly shaped by misleading narratives, WindEurope aims to engage the next generation in building fact-based communication and credible counter-narratives.
A Platform for Students to Engage With the Sector
Participating students will gain access to:
- The full wind energy industry exhibition
- A high-level policy conference
- A specialised Student Programme
- Networking opportunities with industry leaders
- Workshops and side events designed to build awareness of real-world challenges in the sector
Engineering, business, IT, and sustainable science students are encouraged to explore how mis- and disinformation emerges in their respective fields and how to respond with effective, evidence-based messaging.
Before, during, and after the event, students will be invited to produce reflections, social media content, videos, visual materials, or interviews, contributing to a broader discussion on strengthening trust in the energy transition.
Focus on Diversity, Innovation, and Impact
Only WindEurope member universities may apply, and proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Relevance to the event goals
- Diversity across disciplines, gender, nationality, and background
- Impact for students and university programmes
- Commitment to long-term cooperation
- Innovation in student engagement and communication
- A clear evaluation and reporting plan
WindEurope particularly welcomes submissions from institutions committed to promoting diversity and sustainability.
Funding and Eligibility
WindEurope will provide:
- Per diem of 50 EUR/day for participating students
- Lunch vouchers
- Travel reimbursement, calculated using the European Commission’s distance-based tool
- Free event registration
Students from Madrid-based universities will receive lunch vouchers but no per diem.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students may participate, except PhD students who are also employed part-time by companies.
Key Dates
- Proposal submission deadline: 30 October 2025
- Notification of acceptance: 30 November 2025
- Final student list submission: 30 January 2026
Universities are asked to outline their selection criteria, number of students, and plans for engagement beyond the official programme — for example, producing articles, interviews, or social media content that amplifies the event.
