As a result of the proceedings, the bid of Istrana was selected for the seeding of the maritime area. This is another step towards the construction of an installation terminal for offshore wind farms at the Port of Gdansk.
The Tender Committee for Proceeding No. 1/NH/2022 has selected the binding bid of a company named Istrana sp. z o.o., based in Gdansk. This was done as part of the procedure for selecting the lessee or lessees of the land that will be created as a result of the inundation of the maritime area located within the area managed by the Port of Gdansk.
In March of this year, we reported that The Polish Development Fund will build an installation terminal for the operation of Offshore Wind Farms (OWFs) at Gdansk’s BalticHub port. Part of the investment funding is to come from the National Reconstruction Plan (NRP). The project will contribute to the dynamic development of wind energy in the Baltic Sea. It is scheduled for completion in 2026. PFR’s investment in a new terminal at the port of Gdansk will add 21 hectares to Poland’s land area.
The investment involves the creation of a new quay at the BalticHub terminal covering as much as 21 hectares, with a loading quay length of 800 meters and a water depth at the berth of 17.5 meters. This will allow the berthing of installation vessels and supply vessels for offshore terminals with an overall length of up to 170 meters. Earlier this year, the project company launched a competitive process for the selection of a general contractor. Construction work is scheduled to begin in mid-2024, and the project is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The project is being implemented under the “design and build” model.
