The next stage of preparing the seabed for the construction of Baltica 2, a joint project of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted, has begun. This time, the BOKA Falcon, a ship owned by Boskalis, has entered Polish waters. Its task will be to remove large boulders from the future cable route. The ship is equipped with two plows – T-Rex and Megalodon.
The former will remove several dozen massive boulders from the area of the future wind farm, while the latter will precisely dig a trench in which the cable will then be installed. This work is necessary to prepare the seabed for the planned laying and burial of approximately 300 km of export cables and approximately 170 km of internal cables in 2026.
Baltica 2 will significantly contribute to the transformation of the Polish energy sector. With 107 turbines and a total capacity of 1.5 GW, this offshore wind farm will generate enough electricity to power approximately 2.5 million households.
