This week, Vestas officially took over the onshore wind turbine blade factory located in Goleniów near Szczecin. Until now, it belonged to LM Wind Power. This is the result of an agreement signed on May 15, 2025, and the successful completion of all necessary regulatory procedures.

The acquisition is another step in Vestas’ strategic expansion of its European manufacturing base and supply chain, which aims to meet Europe’s growing needs for safe, affordable, and sustainable energy.

The factory was launched in 2009 and subsequently expanded in 2017. It will continue to supply blades for Vestas’ onshore wind turbines, including the V172-7.2 MW turbine from the EnVentus platform.

Felix Henseler, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Vestas, says: “Strengthening our production capacity is key to meeting European demand for safe, affordable, and sustainable energy and to increasing our industrial competitiveness. The addition of the Goleniów factory confirms our commitment to the development of the wind industry and highlights how Europe can stimulate investment and jobs in this industry through appropriate long-term political commitments to wind energy.”

Hanif Mashal, President of LM Wind Power, adds: “We are pleased to finalize the transfer of this facility to Vestas. This transaction allows us to streamline our operations and reinvest capital in key European manufacturing facilities producing GE Vernova wind products to better serve our loyal customer base in the region.”

Approximately 400 existing LM Wind Power employees will remain employed, bringing the number of Vestas employees in Poland to nearly 2,000.

Vestas also operates an assembly plant in Szczecin, which manufactures hubs and nacelles for the V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine. Together, the two locations strengthen Vestas’ ability to serve both the onshore and offshore wind energy markets in Europe and worldwide. The company strongly believes in the potential of the Polish market and remains committed to investing in local production and talent development to support regional energy ambitions.
