A major milestone in the Baltic Sea: the first monopile for Windanker has been successfully installed, marking the start of construction on our third large-scale offshore wind project in the region.

The monopiles – up to 84 meters long and weighing 2,100 tons – are manufactured by Navantia, S.A., S.M.E and Windar Renovables, and installed by Van Oord using the heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen.

Felipe Montero, CEO of Iberdrola Germany:
“With Windanker, we are realizing the third major project of our Baltic Hub. The wind farm is not only a sustainable investment in the transformation of Germany, it also brings state-of-the-art offshore technology to the Baltic Sea, creates added value in the region and strengthens the link between German and Spanish industry.”

Windanker will deliver 315 MW of clean energy by the end of 2026 – enough to power around 315,000 homes.
