Ignitis Renewables held its third community gathering at Science Island in Kaunas, Lithuania, bringing together over 150 participants from more than 20 associations and communities spanning regions from Jonava and Kelmė to Klaipėda, Kretinga, and Pakruojis. The event focused on partnership, energy education, and practical community development.

Representatives from communities located near Ignitis Renewables wind projects shared experiences of how the company’s financial support had funded renovations, community centres, and local initiatives. In four years, Ignitis Renewables has granted over EUR 1.3 million to community initiatives across Lithuania — in areas near operational or development-stage wind farms.

A significant portion of the event was dedicated to children and young people. Energy labs at Science Island allowed students to build wind turbine models, construct smart LEGO houses, and use microcontrollers to explore energy efficiency. The activities were developed in partnership with Ignitis Group’s #EnergySmartSTART programme.

“We want to make such gatherings not a trivial event marked in a calendar, but rather a place for communities to meet, share their experience and see their ideas transform into real changes,” said Giedrė Skerniskiėnė, Community Coordinator at Ignitis Renewables.
