European Energy has secured permits for six wind projects in Germany with a combined capacity of around 145 MW, expanding its portfolio of mature renewable assets in one of Europe’s largest wind markets.
The permits were granted under the German Federal Immission Control Act (Bundes-Immissionsschutzgesetz, BImSchG), an important stage that moves the projects towards participation in renewable-energy auctions, financing and construction. The approved projects are located across Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt.
“Securing permits is one of the most important milestones in renewable energy project development. It transforms years of development work into mature assets that can progress towards financing, construction and long-term ownership or strategic partnerships,” said Johannes Thon, Managing Director of European Energy Germany, adding that receiving six permits within a short period reflects the strength of the company’s German pipeline. Thorvald Spanggaard, EVP and Head of Project Development, said Germany remains one of the developer’s most important markets.
The Danish company’s strategy centres on creating value through project development before advancing assets towards financing, strategic partnerships and capital recycling. Its continued build-out of the German onshore pipeline feeds the wider energy transition across the Baltic Sea region and its neighbouring markets.
