Qualitas Energy has begun construction on the repowering of the Ingstetten wind farm in Baden-Württemberg, replacing five ageing turbines with six modern machines. The site lies in the municipality of Ingstetten, around 35 kilometres south-west of Ulm.
Under the project, five NEG Micon NM 48 turbines and their foundations, crane pads and access roads are being fully removed. In their place, Qualitas Energy is installing six Enercon E-175 turbines of 7 MW each, taking the site to a total capacity of 42 MW. A symbolic groundbreaking on 29 July brought together regional politicians and administrators, including Baden-Württemberg state parliament member Michael Joukov and Ingstetten mayor Dieter Schmucker, alongside the developer’s project team and contractor Stricker.
Once all six turbines are commissioned, which the company expects by the end of 2027, the wind farm is projected to generate enough electricity to supply around 28,000 households a year. “By replacing older turbines with modern, higher-output technology, we significantly increase efficiency and make better use of the available wind resource,” said Christopher Koller, Qualitas Energy’s project manager for Ingstetten.
The project reflects a wider shift in German onshore wind, where repowering older sites is becoming a key route to added capacity as land for new development remains scarce. Qualitas Energy says it holds a portfolio of more than 100 wind projects in Germany, with a 3 GW pipeline in advanced development and over 1 GW in construction or operation.
