Boralex has acquired Wind2, a UK developer that has brought forward roughly 350 MW of wind projects across Scotland, England and Wales. The Montréal-based company announced the deal on 27 October. The transaction also brings the Wind2 teams in its two UK offices into Boralex. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Wind2 was founded in 2016 and focuses on onshore renewable projects. It mainly develops onshore wind, along with solar farms and energy parks. Boralex described the portfolio as well advanced; Wind2’s managing director said the projects are ready to build. Wind2 was advised by Knight Frank Capital Advisory.

Jean-Christophe Dall’Ava, Boralex’s Executive Vice President and General Manager for Europe, said the deal fits the company’s growth strategy in the UK. Esbjorn Wilmar, Vice President for the UK, said Wind2’s development approach is closely aligned with Boralex’s. Wind2 chairman and co-founder Geraint Jewson said the company is handing over to a buyer whose values match its own.

Boralex has been active in the UK for nearly ten years. It commissioned the 106 MW Limekiln wind farm in April 2025 and is building two wind and storage assets totalling 73 MW. Its UK development pipeline stands at 1.7 GW before the Wind2 projects are counted. Boralex also operates in Canada, the United States and France, where it describes itself as the largest independent onshore wind producer, and reports installed capacity of 3,822 MW.

The deal is a UK transaction with no direct Baltic link, but it reflects continued consolidation of onshore development platforms by European and international utilities and independent producers.
