BOREAS Energie GmbH, the Dresden-based renewable energy service provider, has appointed Alexander Kunsch (51) as a managing director with effect from 1 July 2026. Kunsch joins the company’s existing management team.

A trained businessman and qualified civil engineer, Kunsch has more than 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. He has worked within the BOREAS group for several years and has been involved in the planning and turnkey construction of wind and photovoltaic projects across the German and wider European markets since 2002.

“Alexander Kunsch brings market experience, leadership and a deep understanding of renewable energy,” said BOREAS founder and managing director Jörg Kuntzsch, adding that the combination was important for delivering the company’s project pipeline amid the current conditions in the energy market. Taking on the role, Kunsch said he looked forward to developing the BOREAS group for the long term alongside its team.

The appointment coincides with the departure of Uwe Berg, who had led the company’s commercial management since 2009 and is stepping down as managing director at his own request to take on other tasks within the group. Kuntzsch thanked Berg for his work over the past two decades.

BOREAS plans, builds, finances, operates and markets installations for wind, photovoltaics, biogas, energy storage and hydrogen across Europe. The company says it has built more than 550 wind and 64 photovoltaic plants over 36 years, with a combined capacity of over 1,300 MW.
