Deutsche WindGuard Engineering and Sinoma Wind Power Blade have signed a long-term framework agreement covering wind tunnel testing at WindGuard’s large wind tunnel in Bremerhaven from 2026 to 2030.
The contract, signed at WindEnergy Hamburg, gives Sinoma — one of China’s largest rotor blade manufacturers — a fixed quota of flexibly bookable wind tunnel days, averaging several testing weeks a year. “The framework agreement gives us flexible access to high-quality tests and reliable data,” said Lu XiaoFeng, vice president at Sinoma, adding that it would help the company speed up innovation and plan its next generation of rotor blades.
The agreement covers planning, construction, installation and measurement of wind tunnel models, including 1.25-metre profile models with add-ons such as serrations and vortex generators. WindGuard’s acoustically optimised wind tunnel in Bremerhaven, with a 2.75 by 1.25 by 5-metre test section, can run measurements at wind speeds of up to 100 metres per second.
“We support our customers comprehensively and personally from planning to data handover, so they can use their wind tunnel time as efficiently as possible,” said Nicholas Balaresque, managing director of Deutsche WindGuard Engineering. Wang Yang, managing director of Deutsche WindGuard’s Beijing subsidiary, said the company’s presence in China had helped bring the two sides together.
Deutsche WindGuard, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Varel, employs more than 220 specialists across Germany, the United States, China and India.
