Qualitas Energy has brought the final turbines of its Nachtsheim-Luxem onshore wind farm in Rhineland-Palatinate into operation, completing a 33.6 MW project located around 50 kilometres west of Koblenz. The site comprises eight Enercon E-138 turbines and is now fully connected to the grid.

The wind farm is expected to generate more than 92 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, enough to supply over 29,000 households, equivalent to more than a fifth of the roughly 215,000 residents of the Mayen-Koblenz district. Qualitas Energy estimates the plant will avoid around 49,000 tonnes of CO2 annually compared with fossil generation. Commissioning took place in two phases: the first five turbines began operating in 2024, and the remaining three have now completed the project.

“The full commissioning of our project in Nachtsheim-Luxem is another important milestone for the expansion of our nationwide onshore wind platform,” said Johannes Overbeck, chief executive of Qualitas Energy Deutschland. Marc Wiemann, regional development manager at the company’s Trier site, said the project required close coordination on land use as well as nature and species protection.

Qualitas Energy manages around 11 GW of renewable capacity across several markets, including Poland, where it runs offices in Warsaw and Wroclaw. In Germany the developer reports a pipeline of 3 GW in advanced development and more than 1 GW in construction or operation, pointing to continued onshore build-out in the wider Baltic Sea region.
