Åsa Bergman has resigned as President and CEO of Sweco AB, the Stockholm-listed engineering and architecture consultancy, after 35 years with the company and close to nine as chief executive. The company announced the decision on 2 October 2026. Its board has started recruiting a successor, and Bergman will stay in the role until a new chief executive is in place.

“It is hard to describe the fantastic and long journey I have had with Sweco. It’s been one of growth, internationalisation and technical development,” Bergman said, adding that she is ready to “explore new career opportunities”. Board chairman Johan Nordström said the board had followed her career from young civil engineer to CEO and thanked her for her contribution to the company’s development and culture.

Sweco describes itself as Europe’s largest architecture and engineering consultancy, with some 23,000 employees and sales of about SEK 32 billion (EUR 2.9 billion) in 2025. The company says its work helps clients with the green transition and digitalisation. The announcement was made under the EU Market Abuse Regulation, and no successor or timetable for the appointment has been named.
