Steelwind Nordenham GmbH has announced a major milestone for the Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm, confirming the successful delivery of all foundation structures for the project.
The final three monopiles were loaded out last week, marking the completion of a year-long logistics effort. Over the course of 26 separate shipments, Steelwind Nordenham successfully delivered all 78 monopiles produced for the farm. Installation of the foundations began earlier this year, followed by the first turbine installation in July, signaling the acceleration of the construction phase.
Project Background
The Baltic Power project is a joint venture between ORLEN Group and Northland Power, and is set to become Poland’s first offshore wind farm. Located in the Polish Baltic Sea, the facility will feature 76 of the powerful 15 MW Vestas V236-15 turbines, making it only the second offshore wind farm in Europe to deploy units of this size.
With a total capacity of approximately 1.2 GW, the farm is scheduled for commissioning in 2026. Once fully operational, Baltic Power is expected to generate enough sustainable electricity to supply over 1.5 million Polish households and cover up to 3% of the country’s national energy demand, significantly contributing to Poland’s energy transition.
