Njord Survey, a Swedish offshore survey specialist, has been awarded a long-term framework agreement by the German transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz to support offshore wind development in the Baltic Sea. This agreement solidifies Njord Survey’s role as a key partner in Europe’s ongoing energy transition.
The framework agreement covers the provision of comprehensive geophysical and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) seabed survey services. These services are crucial for the safe and efficient development of Germany’s significant wind resource in the Baltic Sea, which in turn contributes to the reinforcement of Europe’s future power grid.
The significance of the award was highlighted by company leadership. Martin Wikmar, CEO of Njord Survey, commented on the strategic importance of the collaboration: “This agreement with 50Hertz reflects our dedication to building lasting client relationships. It underlines the strength of our commercial strategy and confirms Njord Survey’s role as a trusted partner in Europe’s offshore energy transition,”
Philip Ljungström, Project Director at Njord Survey, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality data to meet project needs: “We are honoured by the trust 50Hertz has placed in us.With our people and technology, we will provide the high-quality data needed for safe and efficient project design in Germany – supporting the secure integration of renewable energy into the European grid,”
Furthermore, Njord Survey has committed to using biofuel for all vessels involved in the project, minimizing emissions associated with their operations.
The awarded services will support 50Hertz’s ongoing offshore renewables projects in the region. Earlier this year, 50Hertz announced plans to build a new offshore wind hub in Rostock to further facilitate these developments in the Baltic Sea.
