The “Z energią o prawie” (ZEOP) association announces the start of registration for the 5th anniversary edition of the Energy of the Future Congress (Kongres Energetyki przyszłości KEP), which will be held in Toruń. In the face of an investment gap and system balancing challenges, experts, decision-makers, and industry representatives will meet to define a new regulatory order. Early Bird tickets are available until February 1.

This year’s event, held under the slogan “New Energy Market Architecture,” breaks with theoretical considerations in favor of technical specifics. Poland’s energy transition is entering a phase where simply adding new renewable energy capacity is no longer enough. The market needs a precise definition of priorities in terms of security of supply, grid flexibility, and the profitability of industrial production.

The Program Council of the 5th KEP has based the agenda on three strategic pillars that comprehensively address regulatory and technological issues.

Pillar I: Market architecture, rules, and resources

The first thematic track will focus on the fundamentals of the sector’s functioning. The focus will be on the so-called anti-blackout package and the necessary “connection revolution.” Experts will analyze how to realistically unlock connection capacity without waiting years for the physical expansion of the grid. A key element of the discussion will be the future of support systems after 2030 – whether the RES auction formula has been exhausted and whether it will be replaced by contracts for difference (CfD) or a new generation capacity market.

– A stable market architecture, clear rules of the game, and systemic measures to build public acceptance are necessary conditions for us to implement ambitious and necessary transformation projects, ensuring the country’s energy security – emphasizes Piotr Tomczyk from the management board of Enprom, a member of the KEP Program Council.

Pillar II: Flexibility, sector coupling, and tomorrow’s technologies

The second thematic axis is devoted to the adaptation of the National Power System to the variable nature of renewable sources. The discussion will focus on energy storage facilities, referred to as the “holy grail” of the system, and the challenges related to their profitability and business models. Participants in the debates will tackle the topic of sector coupling, including the electrification of district heating and the role of artificial intelligence in network development planning.

– The Congress program is a good starting point for a discussion about everything that will shape the development of the Polish energy sector in the coming years. That is why we hope that, in addition to representatives of various market sectors, there will also be a large number of representatives of public institutions at all levels, from regulators to local governments – says Magdalena Klera-Nowopolska, Project Manager and PR Specialist at PNE Polska, member of the Program Council.

Pillar III: End users, industry, and society

The third pillar focuses on end users and the competitiveness of the Polish economy. The agenda will include topics such as reindustrialization, industrial self-consumption, and new energy-intensive sectors such as data centers.

Industry expects market conditions that will allow it to compete on both global and European markets. Contrary to what is commonly heard, industry does not need the cheapest energy. Polish industry needs, above all, energy whose cost will be similar to that of its competitors on European and global markets – notes Piotr Kolasa, Partner at Polowiec i Wspólnicy Law Firm, member of the KEP Program Council.

A formula focused on dialogue

In addition to the obvious panels at congresses, we have a lot of roundtables, meetings, and workshops with a wide range of participants in the discussion, which means that everyone who comes to the congress will have the opportunity to be active, not only to listen, but also to be actively heard and to share their knowledge with other participants in the event – emphasizes Kornel Koronowski, Chairman of the KEP Program Council, Head of Origination Poland at Statkraft.

Registration for the 5th Future Energy Congress is now officially open. The organizers have prepared a special Early Bird offer, which is valid only until February 1. This is an opportunity for companies and experts to guarantee their participation in a key debate on the shape of the Polish energy sector on preferential terms.
