Deutsche WindGuard Systems GmbH, the Berlin-based software arm of the Deutsche WindGuard group, has added an AI-based digital assistant called wonBOT to its wind farm asset management system WONDER. Users can ask questions in natural language inside the platform and receive operational information on their renewable energy portfolio in real time, without navigating through menus and reports.
The assistant answers specific questions on portfolios, individual turbines and master data. It can also retrieve entries from a turbine’s life-cycle file, such as maintenance records, measures taken or historical events, and handles filtered and time-based queries, for example listing which maintenance work was carried out on a given turbine over a chosen period. Results are presented in context.
“With wonBOT we integrate a smart dialogue function into WONDER,” said Falko Feßer, managing director of Deutsche WindGuard Systems. “In doing so we combine the possibilities of artificial intelligence with the requirements of professional operations management in a practical way and integrate them seamlessly into existing structures.”
The company says the tool was shaped by feedback from the group’s own technical operations management unit in Varel, which uses WONDER daily. “For my team, wonBOT means considerable relief in everyday work and therefore a significant time saving,” said Nicolas Kluth, head of technical management at Deutsche WindGuard, adding that staff previously had to compile information from several areas before starting a technical assessment.
According to the company, wonBOT processes data within its own infrastructure and does not pass information to external systems. It is tied into WONDER’s existing permissions and multi-tenant structure, so users only receive information they are authorised to access. Deutsche WindGuard, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Varel with more than 220 staff, will present wonBOT at WindEnergy Hamburg from 22 to 25 September.
