Alterric has secured contracts for all six projects it entered in the German Federal Network Agency’s (Bundesnetzagentur) May onshore wind auction, totalling 242 MW. The round was oversubscribed 2.6 times.
The winning projects span five federal states. Four are new-build: Apensen in Lower Saxony, Welsches Lied in Hesse, Osterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt and Durmersheim in Baden-Württemberg. Two are repowering projects: Bentstreek in Lower Saxony and Ebendorf in Saxony-Anhalt. All are due to come online in 2028, and some will be built with partners.
“242 megawatts of new generation capacity in five federal states shows again that we develop competitive projects nationwide, from Lower Saxony to Baden-Württemberg,” said Alterric CEO Frank May. “Even in a demanding market environment, we are able to keep delivering our extensive project pipeline.” He added that stable investment conditions and secured grid connections are needed for the wind sector to keep winning auctions.
The Durmersheim award stands out, as wind projects in Baden-Württemberg are considered among the hardest to permit and build in Germany because of the terrain and planning conditions. Alterric, a joint venture of the Aloys Wobben Stiftung and EWE AG, operates more than 2,500 MW and holds a development pipeline of over 11,000 MW across Germany, France and Greece.
