Swisspower Renewables opened the Prösen solar park in Wainsdorf, in the municipality of Röderland in southern Brandenburg, on 15 October 2026. The ground-mounted photovoltaic plant has an installed capacity of 14.5 MWp.
The park generates around 14,900 MWh of electricity a year, which the company says is enough to supply about 4,200 households and avoids roughly 5,400 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Prösen shares a grid connection point at the Gröditz substation with the Elsterwerda wind farm, which also belongs to the Swisspower Renewables group. According to the company, the shared infrastructure allows hybrid feed-in from wind, solar and, in future, battery storage, and makes more efficient use of existing grid capacity.
The group plans to expand the site with a Prösen-Nord extension and a battery storage system in the coming years. “Batteries will play a key role in integrating renewables into the market. They make solar power available even when the sun is not shining,” said Lars Hieke, CEO of Swisspower Renewables AG, adding that the company wants to build storage at this energy park and in future solar projects.
Under Brandenburg’s municipal participation law (BbgEESG), Swisspower Renewables pays Röderland a levy of €2,000 per installed megawatt, which the company bears in full. At the opening it also handed donations to the Wainsdorf volunteer fire brigade and to the support association of the Röderland schools.
