This time the European wind energy industry will meet in Spain, Bilbao. This country is one of the important places on the map of RES development in Europe. Spain is this year’s host of international talks on the future of wind energy and there are many topics to discuss. The industry will focus on issues such as the sustainability of the wind energy sector (particularly within the supply chain), circularity, high energy prices and the energy crisis, floating wind platform technologies, and digitalisation. The Wind Europe Bilbao 2022 event will take place 5-7 April 2022.

We are very pleased to announce that this year BalticWind.EU is a regional partner of the event! We will be looking at the conference from the perspective of topics important to the countries of the Baltic Sea Region.
What does BalticWind.EU have planned for this year? We will be talking to wind industry representatives from the Baltic Sea Region about the future of the sector. We are planning interviews that will appear on our platform in the form of videos and podcasts. We invite you to take part in live debates at the BalticWind.EU stand.
We are the voice of the region. What will we talk about?
We want to be the voice of the offshore wind industry developing along the Baltic Sea. In Bilbao we will address many key topics for the sector.
The first one will be the labour market and key competences for offshore wind in the Baltic Sea. This is an important factor for the success of ambitious plans in countries such as Poland, Lithuania, Estonia or Latvia. How to prepare the right personnel? What is key in educating specialists? What skills will the industry be looking for in the 2030 and 2040 perspective?
The state of preparations of a fleet of vessels for offshore wind will also be discussed. Port infrastructure and suitable vessels are key to successful projects and meeting schedules. The time around 2025 will be the global peak of offshore wind project development. Will there be enough suitable vessels? Will there be suitable offshore vessels available in the market? How to involve local companies in building vessels for offshore wind? BalticWind.EU will be a partner of the event “Offshore wind installation vessels availability (Polish perspective)”, which will be held on 6 April.
We will also touch on the current situation in the energy markets (energy prices and the energy crisis), also in relation to the war in Ukraine. How will this situation affect the RES market in Ukraine or Europe, and the energy transition in the Baltic Sea region? We will be talking to representatives of the Ukrainian wind energy sector.
