RWE invites Polish companies to a dialogue about the construction of the offshore wind farm F.E.W. Baltic II. In the first stage, the talks will concern the supply of services and components for the onshore substation of the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm. The general contractor of the substation, GE Power / PILE Elbud, will participate in the meeting.
Jakub Budzyński, Stakeholder Manager F.E.W. Baltic II, RWE Offshore Wind Poland, emphasises that RWE is committed to creating a network of suppliers, which will allow efficient implementation of the investment and commissioning of the F.E.W Baltic II offshore wind farm.
“Therefore, we invited the general contractor for the onshore substation, GE Power / PILE Elbud, to talk to potential suppliers. This will give all stakeholders the opportunity to talk directly about each other’s needs, share experiences, and ask questions directly to the commissioners. Such an approach allows us to learn more about the expectations and needs of all entities involved in the construction and results from our many years of experience in implementing similar projects in other parts of the world”, said Budzyński.
Meetings with potential project business partners are part of a broad strategy to build a strong Polish supply chain for the offshore wind energy sector. RWE Renewables has created a unique opportunity for all the producers and service providers in the field of energy to obtain detailed information on the implementation of the onshore substation, which is part of the technical infrastructure of the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm. This is another step on the way to launching wind power generation in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea.

During the meeting, entrepreneurs interested in participating in the project will learn the details concerning, among others: the method of building a chain of sub-suppliers and its structure; the contract schedule; technical and competence requirements for potential sub-suppliers; the supply contracting mechanism; the culture of cooperation with RWE Renewables and the general contractor.
The meeting will include dedicated topic and competency packages. These include 220 kV and 400 kV voltage transformers and limiters; general construction works; road works; and technical protection systems.
