The Commission is pleased to announce that the overarching theme of this year’s  European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will be “Powering a fair and competitive green transition”. Scheduled for 10 to 12 June 2025 in Brussels and online, the 19th edition of Europe’s largest annual gathering focusing on renewables and efficient energy use – and first under the 2nd von der Leyen Commission mandate – will focus on the main energy priorities of the new Commission. As part of the EUSEW tradition to co-create the conference programme with the clean energy community, the Commission has also opened calls for proposals for policy sessions,  nominations in the different categories for the prestigious EUSEW Awards, and  other aspects of this year’s events.

Looking forward to his first edition of this flagship event since taking office, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen said: “Energy policy is at the core of almost all the important challenges we face today: it is critical for Europe’s competitiveness, security and jobs, but also to accelerate the green transition and the fight against climate change. For this, we need to step up investments, in particular in clean energy and technologies, which will be a key factor to bring down energy prices and fully ending Russian fossil fuel imports, while engaging on a just transition path. This is vital for our businesses, facing competition from outside the EU, and for households, facing problems with the cost of living. This is why, already within the first 100 days in office, this Commission will present the Clean Industrial Deal, including an Action Plan for affordable energy, which we are currently preparing. I am looking forward to discussing these initiatives with the European clean energy community at the EU Sustainable Energy Week in June!”

In order to co-create the conference programme, the Commission has opened a  call for policy session proposals  until 23 January 2025, inviting industry representatives, policy experts, members of civil society and academia to shape the event and contribute with their insights and expertise to the discussions on sustainable energy.
