“Over the next 10 years, we will be spending trillions of zlotys on the Polish energy sector. We must do everything we can to ensure that this money goes to domestic companies on the largest possible scale“ – said Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the Polish wind energy suppliers’ forum ”Energy from Poland – Local First.” The government will support domestic entrepreneurs by allocating money to large public investments, such as offshore wind energy, nuclear power plants, and weapons purchases. The Ministry of State Assets, together with representatives of the largest state-owned companies, signed a declaration today on increasing the participation of Polish companies in the second phase of the construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.
“We live among egoists, so we cannot be naive. This is a world of ruthless competition. […] Many months ago, we undertook efforts to repolonise the economy. Today, words such as patriotism and local content, i.e. the participation of domestic companies in public procurement, take on special meaning” – emphasised Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the Polish wind energy suppliers’ forum “Energy from Poland – Local First”.
Local content is a concept that favours domestic supply chains, production and jobs in order to support economic development. One of the key areas here is energy.
“Over the next 10 years, we will be spending trillions of zlotys on the Polish energy sector. This is Polish taxpayers’ money and, wherever possible, it should stay in Poland and in Polish companies” – said the head of government.
This involves large public investments, such as offshore wind energy, nuclear power plants and arms purchases.
“In 2024 alone, public procurement amounted to PLN 580 billion. We must do everything we can to ensure that as much of this money as possible goes to domestic companies. […] This must be the rule” – argued the Prime Minister.
At the same time, the Prime Minister appealed to civil servants, heads of state-owned companies, local government leaders and representatives of private companies to direct their investments primarily towards the development of Polish companies.
“Try to help each other, help Polish contractors. Sometimes it will take a little more time or money, but in the long run it will be a great, national, very profitable business. Wherever the government has influence, we will try to keep an eye on this, especially in macro-scale investments […] The carefree spending of Polish money outside our economy is coming to an end” – said the head of government.
The government is taking consistent action to support domestic entrepreneurs. The Ministry of State Assets, together with representatives of the largest state-owned companies related to the energy sector, signed a declaration today on increasing the participation of Polish companies in the second phase of the construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. The development of offshore wind energy is a key element of Poland’s energy strategy.
Poland’s economic sovereignty
In the face of international changes, such as economic wars and unfair competition, our country must strive for economic sovereignty and autonomy.
“I am not advocating that we shut ourselves off in a Polish ‘cocoon’; that is not the point. But ‘Polish’ must be better, because it is safer from our point of view. […] Poland first and foremost” – emphasised the Prime Minister.
Polish companies cannot be discriminated against in any way.
“All hands on deck. Polish entrepreneurs can count on me. No one will exploit public money anymore. No one will outplay or bypass domestic contractors. This is definitely coming to an end. A new chapter is beginning for Polish companies” – explained the Prime Minister.
Donald Tusk promised that every day he would ensure that the great programme of repolonisation of the economy and public procurement becomes a reality.
