Renewable energy equipment and systems technician – this is a new field of study that will be launched at the General and Technical School Complex in Ustka at the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year. PGE Baltica has signed a letter of intent with the Słupsk County, the school’s governing body, regarding cooperation in the creation of the new class.

PGE Baltica has been cooperating with the school in Ustka for three years. So far, it has provided support to classes specializing in mechanical engineering and mechatronics. It has provided financial support for, among other things, equipping the tool workshop used by students and purchasing teaching aids. PGE Baltica experts regularly visit students and conduct classes on offshore wind farms.

Now we want to take this cooperation to the next level. Our ambition is to educate the best professionals in Poland at the technical college level, prepared to work in the operation of offshore wind farms. This could be the best offshore wind school in Poland, and at the same time a response to the need for education of qualified personnel for the industry. We believe that the opportunity to work at our operations and service base in Ustka will be an additional motivation for students of the Ustka school said Bartosz Fedurek, President of the Management Board of PGE Baltica.

The agreement signed with the Słupsk County paves the way for the creation of a new field of study in the 2026/2027 school year – renewable energy equipment and systems technician. It provides for PGE Baltica’s patronage of the new class, substantive cooperation, and other forms of involvement. Vocational training, student visits to investment sites, and expert participation in lessons will be possible.

– We are very pleased that PGE Baltica sees its investment in Ustka in a comprehensive way and wants to exploit the potential of our region. In the case of our cooperation with the General and Technical School Complex, there is a possibility of future employment of school graduates as technicians at the Ustka base, which will guarantee stable work for specialists for decadessaid Paweł Lisowski, Słupsk County Administrator.

On the occasion of the signing of the letter of intent, a school debate entitled “Green Wind” was held with the participation of students and invited guests, who discussed how offshore wind energy can change the future of young people in the region.

– PGE Baltica’s declaration of support for the school’s development plans is a continuation of our good cooperation, primarily with a view to the future of teenage students, young people who need guidance and direction in choosing their career path – said Katarzyna Ozimek, director of the General and Technical School Complex in Ustka.

PGE Baltica, part of the PGE Group, is currently implementing eight offshore wind farm projects, the most advanced of which is Baltica 2. PGE is building this 1.5 GW farm together with Ørsted, and it is scheduled to start producing electricity in 2027. In Ustka, PGE Baltica is building an operational and service base, which will primarily serve the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, but has the potential to serve other PGE offshore projects.
