Nordex Group has been contracted by the EFG Energy Farming Group to supply and install twelve wind turbines with a combined capacity of around 82 MW for community wind projects in Lower Saxony. Each contract includes a 20-year premium service agreement.
At the Erlte-Endel wind farm in the district of Vechta, Nordex will deliver and erect five N175/6.X turbines on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 metres. The Bad Essen cluster in the district of Osnabrück accounts for a further seven machines: five N175/6.X on 179-metre towers and two N163/6.X with a hub height of 164 metres. The cluster bundles four separate developments — Langewiesen-Nord, Langewiesen-Süd, Rabber Wiesen and the Wimmerbruch repowering project.
First infrastructure works are scheduled to begin at the end of 2026, with turbine erection across both sites planned for 2027 and commissioning expected in spring 2028. The wind farms, developed by EFG Energy Farming, will be operated by landowners and regional citizen energy companies.
“With the wind farms at Erlte-Endel in the municipality of Visbek and at Bad Essen we are delivering two projects with Nordex that show how wind energy and regional value creation can work together,” said Reiner Borgmeyer, Managing Director of EFG Energy-Farming Holding. “Landowners and citizen energy cooperatives are involved from the outset, which keeps the energy transition anchored locally.”
Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Europe at Nordex, said the projects combined regional engagement with current turbine technology and would provide reliable generation over many years. Nordex has commissioned more than 64 GW across over 40 markets since 1985 and reported group revenue of around €7.6bn in 2025. The citizen-ownership model used here remains one of the more durable answers to local opposition to onshore wind, and is watched closely in Poland and the Baltic states as they expand their own onshore pipelines.
