Finnish company Elomatic Oy has established a subsidiary in Wismar, Germany, to design vessels and structures for offshore wind power plants.

The new subsidiary, Elomatic Maritime Technologies, will enhance Elomatic’s ship and structural design capabilities for the offshore wind sector.

The Finnish company will initially hire about 30 experienced and passionate maritime professionals from Germany’s Baltic shipyard cluster, following the pandemic-enforced closing of the MV Werften shipyard.

“I am very pleased to welcome a group of true shipbuilding professionals to our team. Their experience in offshore wind energy vessels and infrastructure, green technology, Arctic vessels, government vessels and cruise ships strengthens each area where Elomatic wants to be number one in the world”, said Rami Hirsimäki, Senior Vice President of Elomatic.

Elomatic Oy is a Finnish consulting and engineering company with more than 50 years of experience in the marine and offshore industries. Elomatic focuses on hybrid solutions, alternative fuels and energy-saving solutions. The privately held company employs more than 1,100 specialists worldwide.
