MacGregor has won an order from Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment to supply three-dimensional motion-compensated cranes and Horizon gangway systems for four commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs), the company said on 6 October. The order will be booked in MacGregor’s fourth-quarter 2026 order intake.
The vessels are due to be delivered from the yard to IWS Fleet, a subsidiary of Integrated Wind Solutions ASA, during 2029 and 2030. They belong to the Skywalker class, which serves offshore wind farms as bases for technicians and for commissioning work.
Lucie Addicks, Executive Vice President of Offshore Solutions at MacGregor, described the order as a repeat order for the Skywalker class. Shanshan Xu, SCM Director at Nantong Rainbow, said the equipment fitted the operational requirements of the vessels. MacGregor said it will support the equipment through its global service network after delivery.
Walk-to-work vessels with motion-compensated gangways are a standard part of offshore wind operations, including in the Baltic Sea, where several large projects are moving from construction towards operation.
