Open Sea Sp. z o.o. is expanding its manufacturing base in Swinoujscie on Poland’s Baltic coast, with a EUR 12 million project centred on a new production hall of around 2,250 square metres. The company said construction is due to be completed in August 2027.

The hall is being built on Open Sea’s existing site, about 50 metres from the company’s own quay. The investment is the implementation stage of a wider research and development project to design and manufacture a modular catamaran with variable width, intended for the maritime transport of oversized cargo. The vessel is to feature variable float geometry and a digitally controlled ballast system.

The project is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy programme (SMART Path). Its total value is around PLN 51.7 million, of which the EU contribution is roughly PLN 23.6 million.

Open Sea said the new hall will increase its capacity to build larger structures for the marine and offshore sectors. Located next to the quay, it is intended to streamline prefabrication, assembly and direct loading of structures for sea transport. Planned equipment includes a 15 kW laser cutter with a 2,500 by 6,000 mm working area, a six-axis welding gantry, two robotic welding stations, two 20-tonne double-girder overhead cranes and an 18 by 35 metre transport bed.

The company specialises in steel and aluminium structures for the marine and offshore industries and supports offshore wind projects. Its Swinoujscie plant has direct Baltic Sea access via its own quay and holds EN 1090-2 EXC-3 and EN ISO 3834-2 certification. The hall is being built to an energy-efficient standard, using heat pumps and a photovoltaic installation.
